Why you NEED to book a Fresh 48 Newborn Session [Southern Pines Newborn Photographer]

It’s…. *ALIVE!!*

I kid, but in all seriousness, I know blogging has fallen off my radar for what feels like forever. Seriously though, who am I kidding— it’s been TWO years since I last published a blog post. A fact I am embarrassed and ashamed to admit! But, alas; its a new year and a fresh start and I’m ready to forgive myself for being too busy with work and life (since my last post we have moved not once, but TWICE to two different states over a thousand plus miles away from each other), and so, here I go again! And this time, with some very important info for any and all expecting mommas on why you just MUST book yourself a fresh 48 newborn (or fresh 12, or 24, or whatever amount of hours you want!) session!

Staying true to myself, I’m going to do this in list form and have it heavy on photos, because I know I can get wordy and for this, I really do believe the photos just speak for themselves! So without further ado, here are my top three reasons of why YOU NEED to book a fresh 48 newborn session (hopefully with me, now located & serving those in Southern Pines and Moore County, NC 😉):

  • #1 This is a time you can’t get back

When your sweet little baby is born, those adorable little baby toes will ever only be THAT tiny right then are there. Yes, in a few weeks time, baby will still be a newborn and itty bitty, but he or she will never be that brand new. Those first few hours and day(s) in the hospital when you and baby are meeting for the first time is SO beautiful and deserved to be captured and preserved for years to come (and on more than just a grainy cell phone snap or two!).

  • #2 You did a LOT of hard work, and YOU deserve to be in pretty photo with baby too!

Let’s be honest here, dads will have TONS of candid photos of them holding their new baby and doing sweet things with their new sweet precious baby, but often mom doesn’t get a candid photo of her just loving and learning about her baby without asking someone to take it. You just birthed a human after growing that baby for nine long months and you deserve someone taking your photo without you having to ask the nurse or your partner to snap a shot of you holding him or her. I got you girl— even though I KNOW you don’t feel gorgeous as you enter this new post partum mother stage with the mesh undies and all the fun that comes after birth, I will make sure to capture that new mom glow that you will have! (*and yes, fear not, I’ll make sure to get some of you and your partner/support person/whoever else is super important to you and allowed in the hospital room too!).

And finally, my last reason of why you need to do a fresh 12/24/48hr newborn session….

  • #3 It can be less stressful to have to worry about a “traditional” newborn session in your home!

Stick with me here, I’m a HUGE fan of in home, lifestyle newborn sessions, but I know that many families may worry about having a session actually IN their home, especially if there are family members in town visiting to meet the new baby or older siblings who could be easily distracted in their own space. I know it can be stressful to feel like you need to clean your home before your newborn photo session (spoiler: you don’t have to at all!! I always recommend just basic unflattering in the spaces we would use to shoot in), so allowing your session to take place IN the hospital can be a great way to remove that stress or worry altogether! I do know that many families who have multiple children will express here that they want their older children in the newborn photos and meeting their baby sister or brother for the first time; and believe me momma, I get that 100%! Since COVID came and ruined the world (🤪), I know many hospitals have really gotten strict on the rules of visitors. Currently, here in Moore County the hospital isn’t allowing children to come visit their new baby sibling, and I know that you want them in the photos too! So, I have solution for that! You can add on the option of the older sibling meet and greet and get the whole fam bam in the frame AT your house after you are discharged from the hospital! Then I will just be at your house (likely on your front porch!) and can capture those sweet memories for you all that way—Problem solved!!

Friends, honestly, these fresh to the world newborn sessions are my absolute fave, and I don’t think you really need ANY other reason than your baby is adorable and brand new and you need photos of him or her to document this new chapter of life. But I hope that the photos and reasoning above helps you as you decide whether to book a session for yourself! Thank you so much to this gorgeous family for allowing me to capture such a special time in their lives… Baby Dana is absolutely adorable and I’m so honored to have been invited in to such an intimate space to capture these memories for them! I have so many favorites, that I’m going to share a few more as I wrap this all up! As always, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about booking your newborn session with me!! 💙
